Network Infrastructure Manager

There is currently an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, resourceful and exceptionally talented individual for the hand’s on role of Network Infrastructure Manager. This position is based in our Toronto, ON office and reports into the VP, IT.

 

Key Responsibilities

Develop an IT infrastructure from scratch including technology, processes, and support.

Brings Best Infrastructure Practices into a well-funded start-up environment.

Establish GCP/GMP and SOP standards for all infrastructure requirements

Swiftly create a highly reliable technology environment. Initial focus on core/back-office functionality (network, email, collaboration, project management, database, authentication, telephony, support processes, etc.) Later add line-of-business systems such as document management, clinical systems, business intelligence, etc.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to build a world class IT infrastructure from the ground up.

Create and implement procurement policies for all infrastructure requirements including hardware, software and licensing Preparation and maintenance of hardware and software inventories, including cellular technology. Negotiate and manage software and hardware service contracts and license agreements for replacement/audit purposes. Develop all SLAs

Maintain and administer network accounts and directories. Review web-hosting options. Monitor network performance and provide capacity planning for future growth.

Perform regular network system maintenance tasks such as benchmarks, optimizations, Network Operating System upgrades and Firmware upgrades.

Initially this position will be front line; however, the ideal candidate will be able to evolve into a manager role.

Respond to escalated IT service requests; determine "true cause" problems/faults and resolve.

Analyze systems failures from a technical perspective, then take or recommend corrective action as appropriate. Analyze and troubleshoot hardware failures as they relate to PC's, printers, and other hardware.

Develop Policies for Back-up and assist in the development of system security policies and implementation of those policies including DRP (Disaster Recovery Planning)

Use industry standard tools to monitor system performance and configure notifications.. Assist in the preparation of the Information Technology Operational Plan.

Research industry standards to develop comprehensive initiatives and preliminary plan proposals. Define, plan and complete complex projects as they relate to the administration and maintenance of the network system, imaging system and workgroup automation.

 Assist in determining plans, timelines and budgets for other technical projects.

Analyze processes and problems from a technical perspective, and recommend solutions designed to improve productivity.

Qualifications

  • 7 years of IT Infrastructure experience preferably in a Pharmaceutical or Clinical Research environment
  • Degree in applicable area of expertise
  • 5 years of Management in a MS Project Environment
  • Demonstrates expertise in leading-edge theories, techniques and/or technologies.
  • Identifies and solves problems that impact the management and direction of the business.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and team-building
  • Team-player who is flexible and self-motivated 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Love of technology and enthusiasm for infrastructure and related troubleshooting
